EPCOT

Gingerbread Spaceship Earth

New this year, CommuniCore Hall will feature an 8-foot tall gingerbread display of Spaceship Earth with handcrafted gingerbread triangles and a dancing lights performance. The gingerbread Spaceship Earth display will arrive in EPCOT on November 29th for the start of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. The sphere was created in collaboration with the EPCOT Festival Team and Walt Disney Imagineering and includes hundreds of handcrafted gingerbread triangles. At the new Holiday Kitchen, the Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow booth, you’ll be able to purchase your own Spaceship Earth Tile Gingerbread Triangle like the tiles used to craft the gingerbread Spaceship Earth, and the gingerbread triangle will be included in the Holiday Cookie Stroll. Additionally, the countdown to each light performance is hosted by Celebration Countdown presented by CITIZEN.

The Spaceship Earth gingerbread display took over 160 hours to create and is made up of almost a thousands gingerbread triangles. To create the iconic display, cast members used 240 pounds of honey dough, 100 eggs, 100 ounces of lebkuchen spice, 55 pounds of dark chocolate, and 100 pounds of royal icing. There are 11 hidden Mickeys on the display to represent the 11 countries of World Showcase.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, opening on November 6th. To celebrate 25 years there are 25 hidden Mickeys throughout the display. This year also includes new chocolate trees themed to various Disney characters.

The massive gingerbread house includes edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, white chocolate candy canes, and an 88 pound white chocolate Santa. The gingerbread is baked with 1050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, and 600 pounds of confectioners’ sugar with the decorations using 700 pounds of chocolate and over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread. The display takes the team 500 hours to bake and 480 hours to put together. The scent of gingerbread also fills the resort to celebrate the holiday season!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Returning for its 13th year, the Gingerbread Castle Display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is inspired by the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights and will open on November 8th. For 13 years of the display there are 13 hidden Mickeys as well as one hidden 5-legged goat. The gingerbread display can be found on the 4th floor of the resort - on the same level as the monorail entrance / exit.

The gingerbread castle display is over 17 feet tall and 25 feet wide. The gingerbread display is made with 613 pounds of sugar, 1013 pounds of flour, 113 pounds of gingerbread spice, 51 pounds of chocolate, and has over 4000 castle gingerbread bricks.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Returning for its 24th year, the life-size, spinning Gingerbread Holiday Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will open on November 9th. Every year, the carousel horses are decorated for a different theme and this year the theme is Mickey’s Christmas Carol! For 24 years of the display there are 24 hidden gold Mickeys throughout the display.

The spinning carousel is created with chocolate, sugar, and fondant with handcrafted gingerbread shingles, hand-painted characters, and snowflakes. The gingerbread carousel display is made with 432 pounds of honey, 200 pounds of icing, 100 pounds of eggs, and 2024 pieces of gingerbread.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

The BoardWalk Deli Gingerbread House at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will open on November 12th. The gingerbread display is a miniature version of the BoardWalk, featuring iconic spots from the resort including the BoardWalk Deli.

The gingerbread display is created with 22 gallons of honey, 168 eggs, 11 pounds of gingerbread spices, and 30 pounds of fondant. The miniature gingerbread replica has window silhouettes of popular Disney characters, the classic red BoardWalk awnings, decorative wreaths and Christmas trees, a working chocolate clock, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse working in the kitchen.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Returning for its fourth year, the Life-Size Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will be on display in the lobby starting on November 24th. The nearly 7-foot tall gingerbread display includes Ginger, the baby giraffe (or, ginger-affe) and Debra, the baby zebra. The gingerbread display is made out of gingerbread, sugar dough, and modeling chocolate by the Animal Kingdom Lodge bakery team.
