Everything We Know So Far About Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World Opening Day

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening on June 28th at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!

When the ride opens, it will use a virtual queue with two daily opportunities to join the queue at 7am and 1pm. Virtual queues can be joined via the My Disney Experience app with each guest being able to join the virtual queue no more than once a day. The 7am virtual queue can be joined from outside Magic Kingdom, while the 1pm queue is only available if you are in Magic Kingdom at the time of reserving. Before requesting to join the virtual queue, guests must have valid admission to Magic Kingdom and a theme park reservation (when needed depending on the date and type of admission).

A standby queue will not be available when the attraction opens, but Disney Parks Blog states that the expectation is that the standby queue will be available soon after the attraction opens. If you’re unable to reserve a virtual queue, want to ride twice, or don’t want the hassle of virtual queue, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will also be included in the Disney Genie+ service as a Lightning Lane option when the ride opens. Pricing varies by the day and availability is limited. Lightning Lane purchase also includes digital downloads of select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken in the park on the day of purchase.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Preview Details

Disney Cast Member Previews will be on June 2nd (Magic Kingdom Cast Members only, no guests), June 3rd to 7th (cast members can bring up to two additional guests), and June 23rd to 26th (all-cast preview). Registration for CM Previews opened on May 20th and closes when previews reach capacity or two days before each preview date, whichever comes sooner. Cast Member check-in will be at the Ticket and Transportation Center. We were lucky to attend a Cast Member Preview on June 4th with our friends but unfortunately were evacuated off the ride halfway through. Previews are the first time the ride is running at full capacity, so delays and downtime is expected and normal while everything is worked out before opening. We’ll be back for the first day of Annual Passholder previews and will hopefully be able to see the end of the attraction!

Disney Vacation Club Member Previews will take place on June 12th from 1pm to 4pm and June 19th from 9am to noon. DVC Preview registration opens May 16th at 10am EST with pre-registration required. To register for a preview, DVC members must have a qualifying Disney Resort reservation using your membership, valid theme park admission, and a reservation for Magic Kingdom the day of the event (unless not required for your membership). Members can only make a reservation for themselves and the number of guests on their resort reservation as of May 12th at 11:59pm EST. A valid Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card and photo ID are required at event check-in.

Annual Passholder Previews will take place on June 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th. To attend the AP previews, passholders will need to make a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom on their preview date and join the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the My Disney Experience app at 7am (for Magic Kingdom park pass reservations) or 1pm (for reservations at any theme park). Annual Passholders can also make a park pass reservation for any theme park on a preview date and will have the opportunity to join the virtual queue at 1pm. If you do make a reservation at another park you do have to enter that park before hopping to Magic Kingdom, or you can enter Magic Kingdom without a park pass reservation after 2pm on the 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th, and 20th. Passholders do NOT need to have entered a theme park when they request to join the virtual queue. APs can only request to join the virtual queue once per day and a park pass reservation doesn’t guarantee the ability to join the virtual queue. However, Annual Passholders can hold a virtual queue for the preview and an attraction at the same time, when available.

Media previews will take place (as far as we know) on June 9th, June 10th, and June 11th. Club 33 previews will be on June 12th. D23 is also hosting a ticketed Gold Member celebration on June 22nd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are $60 plus a $7 processing fee per ticket and go on sale on May 16th at 10am PST (tickets are now sold out). The event includes early access to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the ability to experience the attraction as many times as you want during the event, access to Magic Kingdom during event hours, light refreshments, live jazz performances, and a D23-exclusive Tiana’s Bayou Adventure commemorative pin. All guests are required to check in at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) from 5pm to 7pm with park admission starting directly after check-in. D23 Gold Members can purchase up to 2 tickets (for themselves and one guest) and will need to bring their membership card, government issued photo ID, and tickets to the event.
