Hello and welcome to this very speculative post! As you may or may not know, we’re currently doing a deep-dive series on our YouTube channel and the blog focused on the new hotel opening at Walt Disney World in March, the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. For a bit of context, the Star Wars hotel is a two-night inclusive experience where you take a transport “up” to a Star Wars-themed ship, the Halcyon. The voyage cost is quite high and includes a two-night stay in a cabin or suite, immersive and interactive entertainment, food and non-alcoholic beverages, a planetary excursion to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, valet parking, and a Galactic Starcruiser-exclusive DataBand.

While I was researching the deep dive into this new hotel, I thought it would be interesting to try to speculatively cost out what each aspect of a stay would cost based on similar experiences at Disney to try and find the cost value of the room and entertainment. I should say again that this is my own fun little math problem and may not accurately reflect a true cost breakdown, but was mostly for me to further add to my research of whether this experience is worth the high price tag.

I costed this out with the price of $3000 per person on average for a two-night voyage. I based that average on a slighting higher cost than the sample pricing for the two guests per cabin stay. The sample pricing is the lowest cost pricing for all of the current reservation months available.

With that in mind, here is each item included in the 2-night voyage with my speculative cost based on other Walt Disney World experiences. Since we’re solving to find the theoretical cost of the cabin and entertainment, they won’t be included on this list.

  • Food and Beverages on the Starcruiser (including tips; not including alcoholic and speciality beverages) = $662 total

    • Two breakfasts - $42 per breakfast

      • Price of adult prix fixe breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort

    • One lunch - $55

      • Price of adult prix fixe lunch at Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT

    • Night One Dinner with Live Music - $200

      • Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort costs $74 per person

      • Most upscale dinner theater tickets are at least $150

      • New Year’s Eve at The Edison in Disney Springs is $150 per ticket for reserved seating

      • I expect this experience to be even more upscale than those dinner theater / supper club experiences so I’m speculating $200 per person for Night One Dinner

    • Taste Around the Galaxy Dinner - $300

      • Omakase Tasting Menu at Takumi-Tei in the Japan Pavilion at EPCOT is $150+

      • Chef’s Table at Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is $250+

      • I chose both of the above experiences because they are multi-course upscale dining with up-charge costs for alcohol and additional menu items so I’m pricing this dinner at $300

    • Light Refreshments - $30

      • This could vary if refreshments means snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, or alcoholic drinks

    • Cocktails at Sublight Lounge - $35

      • The average price of one drink and one snack at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios Planetary Excursion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge = $174 total

    • Admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios - $116 minimum (including tax)

      • This is the lowest cost for a one day park ticket, could be more depending on the time of year

    • Walk-ons for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - $30

      • $15 for Genie+ for walk-on access to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

      • $15 for an Individual Lightning Lane for walk-on access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

    • Lunch at Docking Bay 7 - $28

      • Average of entrees, plus dessert and drink average

  • Valet parking = $33 per day; $66 total

  • Exclusive Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser DataBand = $58

    • Since this is an exclusive item but we don’t know the quality, I priced it at the highest cost limited edition MagicBand I’ve seen

Total Cost for Food, Planet Excursion, Parking, and MagicBand = $960

This leaves the cost of the cabin and the immersive and interactive entertainment elements as $2040 per voyage, or $1020 per night per person. For context, the Deluxe Resorts around the Magic Kingdom (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort) vary from $500-$1000 a night depending on the season, and don’t include the immersive entertainment experience Disney is promising with the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. Additionally, the Galactic Starcruiser is a very exclusive experience, with only 100 rooms available per voyage, so my speculative costs may be a low if you factor in the exclusivity premium cost (aka the up-charge cost of FOMO).

All this to say…it’s still a lot of money! More money than I certainly have to spend on a two-night experience at this time. But I do think it helps to see the cost broken down if you’re trying to decide whether it’s worth the cost for you if you can afford to go!
