Star Wars Celebration Japan has begun! The Light & Magic season two panel shares details of the documentary series celebrating the legacy of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). This year is the 50th anniversary of Industrial Light & Magic and ILM is celebrating with this second season diving into The Digital Revolution. The panel was hosted by Sam Witwer and featured executives and artists from Lucasfilm and ILM.

LIGHT & MAGIC: A Glimpse Into the Magic of Season 2 Panel

The Light & Magic panel is a deep dive into the second season of LIGHT + MAGIC, the documentary series showcasing the journey of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). The panel was hosted by Sam Witwer (longtime Star Wars actor including the voice of Maul in Clone Wars and Rebels) and features Janet Lewin (ILM Senior Vice President and General Manager), Doug Chiang (Senior Vice President and Lucasfilm Executive Design Director), John Knoll (ILM Executive Creative Director and Senior Visual Effects Supervisor), Lynwen Brennan (Lucasfilm Business President and General Manager), Rob Coleman (ILM Sydney Creative Director and Senior Animation Supervisor), and Ahmed Best (actor behind Jar Jar Binks and Jedi Master Kelleran Beq).

Season two of the multi-episode documentary Light and Magic is directed by legendary designer and artist Joe Johnston and is produced by Lucasfilm and Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment. This season picks up where season one left off in the mid-1990’s and covers ILM’s history from the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Pirates of the Caribbean. Season two explores the Digital Revolution with advances in VFX and CG characters, development of new revolutionary digital technology, and more.
