Walt Disney World has lots of new treats on the menu for Celebrate Soulfully, a celebration of Black History Month at Disney Parks. This February, new food is available at Disney Parks honoring Black heritage and culture and featuring culinary teams and Disney Cast Members who created and inspired the recipes. We went out to Magic Kingdom to try the new Tiana’s Petite Cake - scroll down for all the details!

Tiana’s Petite Cake (renamed to Tiana’s Chantilly Cake for Women’s History Month) is available for purchase at Main Street Bakery, the Starbucks location at Magic Kingdom. The miniature layer cake is also available as a dessert option at The Plaza Restaurant, a table service restaurant. Both Main Street Bakery and The Plaza Restaurant are located on Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom on the right side of the street as you’re walking in from the park entrance.

Tiana’s Petite Cake is a miniature layer cake with vanilla chiffon cake, lemon chantilly cream, and fresh strawberries topped with a fondant magnolia flower, yellow buttercream, and Tiana white chocolate piece. The cake costs $9.99 plus tax and is definitely large enough to share- but delicious enough to keep to yourself, if that’s what you want to do! It is eligible for a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. If you are using the Disney Dining Plan, this is a great use of a snack credit to get the most value out of your credits.

The Tiana’s Petite Cake is one of the best desserts I’ve had at Walt Disney World in recent memory! Checking all the boxes for style AND substance is a rare occasion for theme park desserts, but this cake does not disappoint on either. The green leaf work on the outside of the cake and fondant magnolia flower are gorgeous and well-executed to visually connect to Princess Tiana. The Tiana white chocolate piece had less detail than in the Disney Parks published photos but is still clearly Tiana. I can take it or leave it with white chocolate pieces, so I think this cake would be equally successful without, but I never eat them anyway so it’s an inoffensive addition to the stunning cake.

Thankfully, this small cake is not only pretty but also delicious! The fresh strawberries and lemon Chantilly cream are the stars, as they should be, and are very light and fresh. The lemon flavor was not tart but didn’t taste artificial either, and both flavors were well-balanced. The vanilla cake was moist and allowed the lemon and strawberry flavors to be the star. The buttercream around the cake was also lemon-flavored, light, and not overly sweet. The only part of this cake I didn’t enjoy was the small bit of yellow buttercream on the top of the cake- it was overly sweet, similar to the frosting used on Disney cupcakes, but it was needed to adhere the decor to the cake so I just removed it and enjoyed the rest of the cake.

Chantilly cake is a Southern staple, originating in New Orleans - a perfect fit for Princess Tiana! Chantilly cake is traditionally a layer cake with Chantilly cream- which is, essentially, whipped cream- and berries. The addition of lemon in this Chantilly cake was a welcome one, and enhanced what is already a winning cake combination.

We were very excited to learn that Tiana’s Petite Cake will be remaining on the menu through the end of March! Originally only available until February 29th, the cake extended to remain on the menu for Women’s History Month until March 31st. We will be likely to purchase this one again. Even at the higher price point of $9.99, it was high quality and share-able, though I certainly loved it enough to want to keep it all to myself!
